Snorkelling and Luxury Combine
Travelling solo I treated myself to the luxury shared boat option and I'm very glad I did! We had a group of 11 on the beautiful Sanjaya 04. Having a photographer and underwater GoPro photos/footage included was a massive bonus (especially as a solo traveller) as it meant I could just enjoy the experience. The trip to/from Nusa Penida can be quite bumpy so I would recommend sea sickness medication as a precaution, especially if you are prone. We had three snorkelling stops before heading onto the island itself - the highlight being manta point to look for the oceanic mantas. They are HUGE and absolutely spectacular to see up close. Bear in mind that mantas are NOT found in sheltered areas so be prepared to swim in choppy water with current. The other snorkelling spots were in more sheltered areas and we were given plenty of time at each. The lunch stop on the island is buffet style and lots of time is given for photos and pool time although personally I would have been happy with a shorter stop. The drive to Kelingking Cliff is long but worth the amazing views. Once back on the boat we were served fresh fruit and there was one final drift snorkel before the prosecco was opened and we began the trip back to the mainland. Our guides Gede and Pako did a fantastic job! From being able to identify the group at the morning meeting spot, ensuring everyone saw the mantas and turtles during the snorkelling, to making sure the group was comfortable in the water. They both were very friendly and had great attitudes throughout the day. I also organised my transfer to/from Ubud through the company and found it was stress-free and convenient.
