Great snorkeling trip!
Overall I liked out trip on Sea Dragon boat. Our guide Jena and the team were amazing and made sure everyone feels great. :)
Boat ride was good for me, though I think some people might feel sick because of the waves (then you can ask Jena for a pill). There were towles and snorkeling gear on the boat plus guys brought fruits as snacks and plenty of water.
Main purpose of the trip for me was to snorkel, and that we mamaged, and I am happey. :) We spotted a gorgeous manta ray on the cleaning station, lots of fish, nice corals and turtles (last snorkeling spot is simply the best, you just relax, submit yourself to the flow and watch).
Jena helped a lot to spot sea creatures, and it’s real nice that guys make pictures during the trip.
The reason I am giving 4 out 5:
- Part of the trip itinerary is a ride to Kelingking cliff. In my opinion, given the state of the roads on Nusa Penida island, it’s not worth it. You drive 45 min there and 45 min back on a very narrow and extremely bumpy road to take an instagram picture on the cliff full of tourists. :) So if I am to come there again, I’d prefer to opt out from the cliff, spend more time ar the beach bar and meet the group at the boat when they are back from this ride.
- We ordered drop off and pick up from the tour. Our driver picked us up from Uluwatu at 06:30, and we arrived at the Sanur around 07:20. Only to wait there for 40 minutes till it’s 08 am, and the trip is started. I don’t get why we needed to start that ealry. Traffic was already quite heavy. I’m mourning those precious additional 30-40 minutes of sleep I could’ve get.
- You are taken to and from the main boat by a smaller boat. When we returned, we waited for 20 minutes for it to come and get us. I am sure it could’ve been organized better so we needn’t wait.
P.S. Be ready to find yourself surrounded by tons of boats and people on the manta ray spot. It’s definitely not pleasent but it is what it is when something is very popular.
P.S.2. I went on a trip being 7 months pregnant. All went smoooth. So if you are pregnant and contemplating — don’t. If you feel good, and you are in a good shape, then in my opinion it’s safe to go. Just don’t dive. And bring your own mask with you (I bought a full face mask frim Decathlon, worked amazing for me!). Also you can take a pool noodle with you, that way you will spend almost 0 energy while snorkeling :)
